Tie-dyed Tsukesage of Rabbit in a wave pattern

This Tsukesage was produced because we wanted to create Tsukesage with “Kimono Haku’s color” that includes formal essence, and still comfortable. We selected firm and glossy Donsu* texture which had Seigaiha* pattern as the background design, and it was dyed by tie-dyed method(called Shibori) and embroideries, not by Yuzen method.
*Donsu texture is one of textures that dyed before weaving. Usually this pattern is created by using different color of warp and weft.
*Seigaiha pattern is a design of ocean waves.
By covering sea spray part with Saraga embroidery, it creates dressy and formal impression. (Sagara embroidery is embroidery method which repeats to take out thread from back of texture and make a knot. )

People fond Mami Usagi (Rabbit in a wave) pattern as a lucky charm since ancient times. It is because Rabbits are conceived as fairies and auspicious sign for immortality or fertility. Rabbits are prolific which represents prosperity and also represents significant leap forward from the figure to jump around powerfully.

The texture appears differently under the sun or indoors, so that you can enjoy both expressions.
