Hanaguruma embroidery design Fukuro Obi
I started to create this good old-fashioned and well-embroidered Obi which hardly see in these days, for everyone to touch, see and fasten it.
Design was inspired from Kyo Yuzen(Kyoto creations) in Taisho period, and I determined this one of a kind rowel design with particulary gorgeous flowers in the center, Sayagata patterns as background, and Seigaiha pattern in the end part of Obi.
.
Thin fabrics wouldn't have enough tolerance in order to sew this amount of embroideries as to cover the whole area.
On the other hand, it would be hard to fasten it if the Obi gets too heavy, so I selected damask fabrics (Donsu) that smooth and comfortable.
This deep color was considered by a balance between Dansu's distinctive glossy texture and the fabrics' color as if the embroideries float
Designed a drum pattern in front and Hanamarumon's embroidery by considering compatibility with Kimono.
It will be very beautiful to put this Obi on a display shelf or hang it as a wall hanging.
